They folded to make way for Karate England 2005 who subsequently went bankrupt with a lot of missing money, there is now no official governing body for Karate in England...

Thats a shame. I believe an organisation called Karate England does still exist but I don't think it is official anymore. Certainly does not appear to be recognised by Sport England.

The group which has the WKF mandate in England, and which tries to present itself as the 'official' governing body is called The English Karate Federation.

Karate England went bankrupt about 3 or 4 years ago.

But, that's not the same Karate England which was the Sport England recognised Governing Body for Karate in England.

This group are a new body which have taken over the name.

To those old enough in the know, doesn't this Karate England - English Karate Federation situation remind anyone of the old English Karate Council - English Karate Board situation back in 1980's and 1990's?

It's different because the EKC was registered with the Sports Council (now Sport England) and the EKB weren't. Neither of these groups are registered and neither are likely to be in the foreseeable future.

The thing I found crazy looking at the website is that KUGB (Scotland) have been suspended from the SKGB/WKF because they have been training with KUGB members from England who are not affilatied to their English counterparts...

Never mind WKF...WTF??

I can vouch for that. Just been to training this evening, 4 Dan grades and 1 Kyu grade. Struggling for new blood at the minute.

It's a shame also about the politics behind martial arts. Is it to much to ask that people just get on??!! Also the thing about the Scottish KUGB members is ridiculous...
