Charity Kickboxing Event

There will be a Charity Kickboxing Open Competition at RAF Kinloss in Moray on Sunday 18 March 2012 in support of Help for Heroes and Breast Cancer Care Scotland.

The ‘North of Scotland Open’, which has the backing of the World Karate Association, will include all forms of martial arts, with competitions for men, women, and children. There will also be an ‘Open’ class. Weigh in and registration will start at 9.30 am in the RAF Kinloss Gymnasium.

Tony Carroll, who is a MOD civil servant at the Moray base, is one of the event organisers. He said: ‘We have put out the invite to all the clubs in the local area and throughout the UK, as well as to the RAF Martial Arts Association. We have had a lot of interest from clubs from Glasgow and Edinburgh already. We are asking clubs to support these two great charities, and hopefully we’ll have over 200 competitors on the day.

‘We chose Breast Cancer Care Scotland as my wife, Sarah, was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, and the support we have had from the charity has been fantastic. And we decided on Help for Heroes, because of the links between the charity and RAF Kinloss.’

Tony’s 13 year old daughter, Tara (pictured above in blue with local instructor Kayleigh Robinson) will be taking part in the competition. Already chosen to represent Scotland, Tara has been kickboxing for six-and-a-half years and is a member of the Kaizen Club in Elgin, which is also supporting the Tournament.

Anyone who would like to take part can contact Tony on 07786 160280 or co-organiser, Linda Henderson on 07795 681668.
